Short History of the Castle

Platamon Castle was built in the 13th century, around 1204, by Frankish knights after the Fourth Crusade. It was later expanded by the Byzantines, Venetians, and Ottomans.
The fortress controlled an important coastal route between Macedonia and Thessaly.
Today, its walls and towers still reflect its important defensive role.

Why Visit Platamon Castle

The castle stands on a hill overlooking the sea and offers beautiful views of the area:
